Filmmaker Omung Kumar B. on Thursday announced his plans on making  a film on 109-year-old Fauja Singh, popularly known as the Sikh Superman, who broke records as a marathon runner. 'Fauja' the film is based on the book 'Turbaned Tornado' written by Khushwant Singh, on the life story of Fauja Singh.  It will be produced by Omung Kumar, Raaj Shaandilyaa and Kunal Shivdasani. Earlier, he had directed biopics like Mary Kom (2014) and Sarbjit (2016).

Fauja will chronicle how 108-year-old Fauja Singh, also known as the Sikh Superman. He stunned the world by shattering a number of records in multiple age brackets as a marathon runner. After making his debut at London marathon in 2000, he has completed the marathon six times at the age of 89. Apart from this he has finished marathons in Toronto, New York and more cities. The screenplay is being adapted from the book Turbaned Tornado by Khushwant Singh. Vipul Mehta is penning the script for the film. Sharing a photo of himself with Raaj Shaandilyaa and Kuanl Shivdasani, Omung Kumar wrote, "So here it is, our new venture Film - #FAUJA. A story I always felt proud of is finally going to be my directorial project. Feels great to join hands with like minded people to produce a film that shall bring to life the Greatest Human Story ever told on the BIG screen. Omung Kumar is known for films like Mary Kom, Bhumi and Sarbjit, among others.
