Ali Fazal on Dharmendra’s demise: To a legend there are no goodbyes

Mumbai, Nov 24 Actor Ali Fazal has mourned the passing of veteran star Dharmendra, saying legends never truly leave.

Remembering the screen icon, Ali wrote on Instagram that there are “no goodbyes” for someone whose work and presence shaped generations. He went on to add that the late star’s memories “stay locked in with us for ever and ever”.

Sharing three pictures of Dharmendra from his younger days, Ali wrote: “RIP DHARMENDRA JI.. to a legend there are no goodbyes. Your memories stay locked in with us for ever and ever . Our condolences to the entire family.”

Dharmendra was 89 when he breathed his last. He passed away on Monday morning here. The superstar would have celebrated his 90th birthday on December 8.

The octogenarian on November 12 had got discharged from Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and was said to be in a stable condition and recovering well at home.

At that time Dr. Rajiv Sharma from the hospital told IANS that the legendary star has gone home “fully satisfied” after receiving the required treatment.

The star was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and sources close to IANS on November 10 had said that Dharmendra is critical and on life support. On October 31, the actor, as per sources close to IANS, was kept under strict medical observation by top doctors at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

Talking about Ali, he will next be seen in the movie adaptation of “Mirzapur”.

Talking about the popular crime-thriller series “Mirzapur”, it follows Akhandanand “Kaleen” Tripathi, a crime boss and businessman who is the proverbial ruler of Mirzapur district in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh state in India.

In the first season, the main cast features Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Vikrant Massey, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

The second season retains the main cast from the first season, excluding Vikrant and Shriya, with a new cast consisting of Vijay Varma, Isha Talwar, Lilliput, Anjum Sharma, Priyanshu Painyuli, Anangsha Biswas and Neha Sargam.

The series was filmed mostly across Uttar Pradesh, primarily shot in Mirzapur, and other locations including Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Lucknow, Raebareli, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi.

The film adaptation of the series is reportedly scheduled for a 2026 release.
