After much speculation, Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana's Gulabo Sitabo will now have a digital release. The movie, which was earlier scheduled to have a theatre release will now be streamed on Amazon Prime Video on July 12, as cinema halls are still shut due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. After tweeting about the film's digital release, an excited Mr Bachchan wrote, Remembering his journey in Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted saying that he joined the industry in 1969 and it has been 51 years since he has been acting in films. The 77-year-old actor shared that he has witnessed many changes in the industry during his long career span. And now he feels honoured to be a part of yet another change - the digital release of his film Gulabo Sitabo.

For the unversed, Amitabh Bachchan made his Bollywood debut in Saat Hindustani, which released in 1969. He played one of the seven protagonists in Khwaja Ahmad Abbas's directorial venture. Gulabo Sitabo is directed by Shoojit Sircar, who has worked with Big B in films such as Shoebite, Piku and Pink. The film also stars Ayushmann Khurrana. Rumours are rife that other Bollywood biggies like Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘Ludo’ and Karan Johar backed Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ may also take the digital route.
