Following her final outing in the "Star Wars" franchise, actress Daisy Ridley is in talks to take the lead role in Swedish crime thriller "The Ice Beneath Her".

The movie project, which will be financed by STX, is based on the 2015 novel by Swedish author Camilla Grebe, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

The story is about a young woman found beheaded in a business tycoon's hallway, a crime that resembles an earlier unsolved killing. It soon becomes a race against time.

Three members of the collective horror filmmaking group Radio Silence, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella, are on board to direct and produce alongside Andrew Lazar. Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett directed the hit "Ready or Not".

It was earlier reported that New Line Cinema will adapt the Swedish novel, with STX now also picking up the worldwide distribution rights.

Ridley got fame with her role in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". She also appeared in Fox's adaptation of "Murder on the Orient Express" and Disney's "Star Wars: The Last Jedia" and "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker".
