Aditya Dhar directed, Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge turned out to be a massive blockbuster. Film features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, but Rakesh Bedi who plays Jameel Jamali steal the show. The audience showered this character with an abundance of love; not only that, but his dialogues also went viral across the internet. However, did you know an interesting fact? Rakesh Bedi initially did not want to work with director Aditya Dhar. He recently opened up about this during an interview with Farah Khan.
While speaking with Farah Khan recently, he explained why he had initially declined the opportunity to work with Aditya Dhar. He also revealed that it was a special member of his own family who ultimately convinced him to agree to work with Aditya.
This was not Rakesh Bedi's first time working with Aditya. Previously, he had played the character 'Serbia' in the 2019 film Uri: The Surgical Strike. To be precise, his role in that film was quite brief; he had only a single scene. For this very reason, he had initially turned down the film. However, he eventually agreed to do it at his daughter's insistence.
"When Aditya offered me the role in Uri, I flatly refused. The reason was that the character 'Serbia' had only one scene in the entire film. However, my daughter managed to convince me. 'Papa, even though he is a new director, he is incredibly talented. So, please do this film,' my daughter urged. And, my wife also seconded her opinion. That is how I eventually decided to take up the film. Besides, it wouldn't be right if senior actors started refusing to work with budding directors," Rakesh Bedi remarked.
Meanwhile, following the release of Dhurandhar 2, audiences began attempting to draw connections between his character in Dhurandhar and his role in Uri. Consequently, this role of his has once again become a topic of discussion. In Uri, Rakesh Bedi portrayed the character of an ISI agent. Notably, this role was linked to Jameel Jamali from Dhurandhar a character who worked for India while residing in Pakistan.
