Ramayana is one of the biggest and most anticipated films of Indian cinema, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, in collaboration with the 8-time Oscar-winning DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The ambitious project is being envisioned as a grand two-part global spectacle, aiming to bring one of the greatest mythological epic to life on an unprecedented scale.

The film’s first glimpse, which introduced Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, stunned the world, offering a peek into the universe of Ramayana that audiences are about to witness. However, the teaser featured a moment where the entire frame goes dark and becomes emotionally intense. Did you know that this scene is perhaps the most heartbreaking moment in Ramayana?

This scene tells of when Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana prepared to leave for exile, and Ayodhya witnessed an emotional collapse. Every household came onto the streets. The city, once ready to celebrate, fell silent as joy slowly turned into grief. Lord Rama did not want anyone to be troubled by his departure, hence he decided to leave late at night or early morning so that he wouldn’t disturb the lives of common people.

But despite this, the entire city was awake. Every single person stepped out of their homes and gathered on the roads, just to catch one last glimpse of their beloved king. No one wanted to stay behind. The silence of the night was filled with unspoken emotions, pain, and devotion. This moment shows the immense love people held for him. It became such a deeply heartbreaking moment yet a significant moment, for them to see their king leaving, and how every single person in Ayodhya turned emotional.

Bringing this together with the story of the Ramayana, one of the greatest tale ever, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana aims to bring epic emotion to life on an unprecedented scale. The film sees Ranbir Kapoor embodying Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi bringing grace to the role of Sita, alongside Yash as the commanding Ravana. Sunny Deol steps in as the indomitable Hanuman, with Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Ramayana will bring a cinematic vision that promises to be monumental, blending scale, storytelling, and deep emotional resonance. Ramayana, the two-part epic will be released in IMAX worldwide, Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
