The final journey of legendary star Dilip Kumar has begun with the mortal remains of the thespian wrapped in Indian tricolor. Meanwhile,  Saira Banu has left for Santacruz Kabrastan for the late actor's funeral. Earlier, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray declared a state funeral for the movie icon. 

The veteran actor suffered from advanced prostate cancer that had spread to other organs of his body. “The cancer spread made it difficult to treat him,” the doctor said.Some of his most notable works include Naya Daur, Madhumati, Ganga Jumna, Ram aur Shyam, Mughal-e-Azam, Shakti, Mashaal, Kranti among many others. Dilip Kumar is survived by his wife, veteran actor Saira Banu. For his contribution to cinema, Dilip Kumar was conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in the artform. He also received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of the country.
