Musafir actress Koena Mitra has lost her father. Mr Bishwanath Mitra after prolonged illness. According to a TOI report, "Koena was shuttling between Kolkata and Mumbai a lot since the last 12-13 months. Her father suffered a lot of pain and agony; his condition was not improving despite the best efforts of the doctors who were treating him. He was in and out of the hospital several times, especially since October 2020."
The actress in her interview to TOI confirmed that her dad succumbed to renal failure. "He had chronic diabetes which had caused him serious glaucoma and eventually his kidneys got affected. He underwent dialysis many times and it was extremely painful." Speaking about her mother the actress said, "She won't travel for a year and hence I will still be going to Kolkata frequently for the next 10-11 months at least. "Born and brought up in Kolkata, Koena started with dance at age 3. She learnt Kathak, Kathakali, Manipuri and Indian Ballet. At age 16, she found herself in the modelling industry. She competed for the Gladrags and won the West Bengal pageant as well as the Indian finals. She represented India at the Intercontinental stage and emerged among the top 12 finalists.
