Aamir Khan's Rangeela director Ram Gopal Varma has wished the actor and his wife a ‘more colourful’ life than before after the superstar's divorce announcement.  The controversial filmmaker has said that a ‘divorce should be celebrated more than a marriage’. “I wish u both #AmirKhan and #KiranRao a very RANGEELA life much more COLOURFUL than before ..I believe that a divorce should be celebrated more than a marriage because divorces happen out of knowledge and wisdom …and marriages happen out of ignorance and stupidity,” he wrote. RGV also slammed trolls for their nasty comments. "If #AamirKhan and #KiranRao have no problem with divorcing each other, why the F…. should anyone else have it in the whole world?" RGV asked in a tweet. "Trollers are trolling it in a stupidly personal way, whereas the couple is being personally professional," he went on to add while also saying that he is certain the couple decided to "have happier times in future."

In their statement, Aamir and Kiran revealed, "We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. "The couple will co-parent their son, Azad and will also continue to work as collaborators on films, their foundation, and other projects they started together." A big thank you to our families and friends for their constant support and understanding about this evolution in our relationship, and without whom we would not have been so secure in taking this leap," they said in their statement.

In December 2005, Aamir Khan had married producer-director Kiran Rao. They announced their divorce after 15 years of marriage on Saturday. Aamir (56) and Kiran (47) had first met on the sets of the 2001 movie Lagaan. The two have a son, Azad Rao Khan, whom they welcomed in December 2011.Meanwhile, Aamir will be seen next in Laal Singh Chaddha, an official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' acclaimed movie Forrest Gump. The film is being produced by Kiran Rao, who has also backed several other of his films, including Dangal and Secret Superstar.
