Rhea Chakraborty's bail plea rejected, actress to remain in Byculla Jail

A special court in Mumbai today has rejected bail to Rhea Chakraborty and others in the drug case. The magistrate court had earlier rejected her bail plea and granted the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), 14-days of judicial custody. Her bail was reportedly rejected on the rounds that she might influence others and tamper evidence. The accused might now approach the High Court. Special judge GB Gurao heard the submissions made by the lawyer of the Chakrabortys and the special public prosecutor on Thursday. The bail applications of the four other accused were also heard, after which the matter was adjourned.

Bail pleas of Showik Chakraborty, Rhea Chakraborty, Abdul Basit, Zaid Vilatra, Dipesh Sawant & Samuel Miranda have been rejected by a special court in Mumbai.

According to a report in Times Now, Rhea, who was at the NCB office, was shifted to the Byculla jail till September 22. Investigation officer Sameer Wankhede reached the NCB office to investigate the case ahead today. The focus of the NCB now is reportedly to unearth the larger nexus of the entire drug cartel in which Rhea is said to have played a role.The NCB has arrested the ‘Jalebi’ actress under sections 8(c), 20(b), 27(a), 28, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). On Day 3 of her interrogation by the NCB, Rhea Chakraborty admitted that she was consuming not just marijuana, but also hard drugs. Sushant's father KK Singh has accused Rhea of abetting suicide and money laundering amongst other charges. The actor was found dead at his Mumbai apartment on June 14.
