Showik dealt in drugs, NCB tells court, to be confronted with Rhea tomorrow

Actor Rhea Chakraborty's brother, Showik, and Sushant Singh Rajput's manager, Samuel Miranda, have been sent to the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) till September 9. The two were arrested late Friday night and charged under multiple sections of the anti-narcotics law.In its remand application the NCB said Mr Chakraborty, who has "given so many names with whom he was dealing in drugs", will now be confronted with his sister Rhea, as the agency continues investigations into allegations of drug abuse surrounding the death of Mr Rajput in June. The agency confirmed, that Showik dealt in drugs, s with many others" and had links with accused Abdel Basit Parihar. 

The NCB told the court that there were other instances wherein Parihar, who was earlier arrested by the NCB for facilitating to arrange drugs, was in contact with Showik and Miranda.Parihar had disclosed about his link with Showik, the NCB said.Showik has given many names with whom he was dealing with drugs, it said.Showik's custody is also needed as the NCB will have to confront him with other arrested accused, the court was told.The agency further said various networks involved in sale and purchase of contrabands need to be unravelled. Earlier in the day, besides Showik and Miranda, another accused Kaizan Ibrahim was also produced before the court. Ibrahim was sent to 14-day custody today and also received bail. However, Showik and Miranda have been sent to remad till 9th of September. 

Early Friday, a joint team of NCB officials and police raided the homes of Showik Chakraborty, who lives with his sister, and Samuel Miranda.Rhea Chakraborty has been accused in the death of the 34-year-old actor.The case is being probed by three central agencies - the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the NCB and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is looking into money laundering charges.The NCB began its probe after inputs from the ED. The NCB will also investigate the financial trail of all the previousdrug purchases of the accused. The NCB is probing the drug angle in this case under criminal sections of the NDPS Act after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) shared with it a report following the cloning of two mobile phones of Rhea Chakraborty.
