Tamil filmmaker SP Jananathan dies in Chennai after suffering cardiac arrest

National Award winning director Director S P Jananathan passed away today, after undergoing treatment at a private hospital. SP Jananathan was working on the editing of his latest film 'Laabam', and his assistants had visited him at his residence and found the filmmaker unconscious. He was then taken to a private hospital in Chennai. A team of doctors immediately began treating SP Jananathan, and it was reported that the filmmaker had suffered a brain hemorrhage. SP Jananathan was in a critical condition for the last couple of days and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. 

However, SP Jananathan suffered a cardiac arrest, and passed away today at 10.07 AM.A few days ago, one of his assistant directors found him unconscious at his home. He was rushed to a hospital nearby where the doctors declared him critically ill.SP Jananathan is one of the most popular filmmakers in Tamil cinema and is known for delivering powerful films with social messages. He has called the shots for hits like 'Iyarkai', 'E', 'Peranmai' and 'Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai'. His last venture being 'Laabam', which is yet to release. 'Laabam' features Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in lead roles, and the film reportedly narrates some serious societal issues.
