Mumbai, Sep 7 It was in 2018 when Triptii Dimri made her debut with “Laila Majnu”, as the film clocked six years since it hit the screens on Saturday, the actress said that she was heartbroken when the film didn’t perform well upon its initial release.

In August, “Laila Majnu” was re-released, surpassing its original earnings.Reflecting on this turn, Triptii shared: “I was heartbroken when Laila Majnu didn’t perform well upon its initial release. Now, it’s incredible to see how people have embraced and celebrated it.”

The romantic drama helmed by Sajid Ali, presented by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Preeti Ali, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. The film is a contemporary retelling of the story of “Layla and Majnun.”

“Every day, I hear from fans who express their love for the film. It was a project that we all invested our hearts into, and it will always hold a special place in mine. I hope it continues to touch hearts worldwide and that the love for it never fades.”

Triptii is now set to star in “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” with Rajkummar Rao. She will also be seen in Kartik Aaryan-starrer “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3”, the latest installment in the horror-comedy franchise.

She will also be seen in “Dhadak 2”, which was announced in May. Karan Johar shared the first look of the upcoming film on Instagram and wrote: “This story is a bit different. Once, there was a king and a queen, both of them belonged to different castes, end of story. Presenting ‘Dhadak 2’ starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri. Directed by Shazia Iqbal. #Dhadak2 in cinemas November 22."

The video highlighted various texts pertaining to the lives of Dalits and the resistance against the practice of casteism. Most of the texts in the video were in blue, emphasising Ambedkarite themes.

The film also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi. The two will be portraying characters from different worlds. It addresses the issue of discrimination against people from oppressed castes.

The first part of the ‘Dhadak’ franchise marked the Bollywood debut of actress Janhvi Kapoor, who starred alongside Ishaan Khatter. The film itself was adapted from the Marathi blockbuster ‘Sairat’ directed by Nagraj Manjule.

“Dhadak 2’ is set to arrive in cinemas on November 22.
