B-complex is a group of eight essential vitamins necessary for the body. Since all these vitamins are water-soluble, they are not stored in the body; therefore, a regular supply through diet is crucial. B-complex plays a very important role in energy production, nervous system function, blood formation, and the health of skin and hair. B-complex includes Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B5 (Pantothenic acid), B6 ​​(Pyridoxine), B7 (Biotin), B9 (Folic acid), and B12 (Cobalamin). All these components together ensure smooth bodily functions and provide the necessary energy to the brain and muscles.

If there is a deficiency of B-complex in the body, initial symptoms include constant fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and loss of appetite. Dry skin, chapped lips, sores at the corners of the mouth, and a red or burning sensation in the tongue are common symptoms. Hair loss, brittle nails, and skin rashes can also be caused by a B-complex deficiency. In some people, if this deficiency worsens, mental and nervous system-related problems may appear. Irritability, depression, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, and numbness or tingling in the hands and feet are symptoms particularly associated with deficiencies of B12 and B6. In pregnant women, a folic acid deficiency can also affect fetal development.

Paying attention to diet is extremely important to prevent B-complex deficiency. Including grains, pulses, legumes, green leafy vegetables, milk and dairy products, bananas, peanuts, almonds, and walnuts in your diet regularly ensures a good supply of these vitamins. Sometimes, if you are not getting enough B-complex vitamins from your diet, or if you experience frequent illnesses, stress, excessive alcohol consumption, or digestive problems, taking B-complex supplements under a doctor's advice can be beneficial. However, seeking medical advice is safer than self-medicating.

Overall, B-complex vitamins are essential for the body's daily functions. By recognizing its deficiency in time and taking appropriate dietary measures and treatment if needed, fatigue, skin problems, and nervous system disorders can be easily avoided.
