The tea and coffee are one of the most consume beverage in country. Many people kickstart their day with a cup of tea accompanied by biscuits. The combination of tea and biscuits is arguably the most popular choice across India. A great number of people enjoy munching on biscuits while sipping their tea, even young children delight in dipping biscuits into their tea and eating them with gusto.

Whether it is the start of the day or the evening, people consume tea and biscuits with great enthusiasm. However, consuming tea and biscuits together can have adverse effects on your health. According to health experts, this habit can lead to a host of health issues. Consequently, this specific combination is not considered particularly beneficial for one's well-being.

Dietitian Kamini Sinha provided further insights into this matter during an interview with a Hindi-language website. Consuming tea and biscuits on a daily basis can prove detrimental to one's health. Biscuits typically contain refined flour (maida), sugar, and trans fats, making them calorie-dense. When you consume biscuits by dipping them into your tea, it contributes to weight gain and obesity. Furthermore, biscuits have a low fiber content; as a result, they do not induce a sense of satiety quickly, leading to a persistent urge to keep eating. Tea itself contains high levels of sugar and caffeine, which is why excessive consumption of tea is considered harmful.

According to dietitians, the combination of sugary biscuits and the sugar added to tea causes a rapid spike in the body's glucose levels. This, in turn, increases the risk of insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes. For individuals who are already pre-diabetic, this habit can be particularly dangerous. The trans fats and refined oils present in biscuits elevate levels of "bad" cholesterol in the bloodstream, thereby increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Prolonged consumption of this combination can exacerbate heart-related conditions. If you already suffer from high cholesterol or heart disease, it is highly advisable to avoid this combination altogether.
