London, April 26 As the coronavirus lockdown in the UK nears its sixth week, many Britons growing impatient of the governments orders, have flouted the stay-at-home and social distancing measures whenever possible, a media report said.

Hundreds of locals were seen strolling along the seafront of Hove, East Sussex and queuing up for ice cream, said the Metro newspaper report on Saturday.

Although new COVID-19 hospitalisations were beginning to plateau in the UK, Health Secretary Matt Hancock warned on Saturday that it was still too soon for emergency restrictions to be relaxed.

The government has said that people should only go outside to buy essential items, for medical assistance, to help a vulnerable person, for one form of daily exercise and to go to work if necessary.

But that hasn't stopped some from heading out for the day to potter around town, ignoring guidance stay two metres apart from each other.

Scientists have also advised the Government saying that it was far too soon to consider any relaxation, as the official death toll for the UK has increased to 20,381, with a total of 149,569 cases.
