Eid al-Fitr 2025 Date: Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh to Celebrate Ramadan Eid on March 31

The crescent moon of Shawwal 1446 AH was not sighted in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Bangladesh on Saturday, March 29. They announced that they would celebrate Eid al-Fitr 2025 on Monday, March 31. One Islamic organisation in Indonesia has announced that Ramadan Eid, or the first day of Shawwal, will be observed on Monday. 

The announcement is made through hisab hakiki wujudul hilal method, a long-standing guideline used by the Muhammadiyah Leadership's Tarjih and Tajdid Council to calculate the beginning of the Hijri month. Across Indonesia, the moon remained below the horizon, failing to meet certain criteria. 

Similarly, in Malaysia, “Hari Raya Puasa” will officially fall on Monday, March 31, after the crescent moon was not visible today. Therefore, the country will observe a 29-day fast on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the sun had set in Bangladesh, and the crescent was not sighted for Eid al-Fitr. The country will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 on Monday with Indonesia and Malaysia. The Asian country will observe the 29th day of fasting on Sunday. 

In this Muslim-majority nation, markets burst with crowds as people prepare for Eid celebrations. Homes glow with lanterns as celebration will mark the end of hthe oly month of Ramadan.
