The world is eagerly waiting to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, and on this festive occasion, there is news of relief from the UAE. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced a large-scale prisoner pardon, ordering the release of 1,295 jail inmates, including 500 Indians. The UAE president made the announcement in February this year, alongside Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who granted clemency to 1,518 prisoners. President Zayed also ensured that the financial obligations of the released prisoners were settled.
This move will ease the burden on prisoners' families and allow them to reunite in time to celebrate Ramadan Eid 2025. The financial assistance provided will help the released individuals start a new chapter in their lives. The clemency granted by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid applies to individuals of various nationalities who were held in Dubai's correctional and punitive facilities.

Chancellor Essam Issa Al-Humaidan, the Attorney General of Dubai, stated that the decision reflects Sheikh Mohammed's commitment to offering a fresh start to those who have served their sentences. Reports suggest that authorities have already begun the process of releasing prisoners.
These annual pardons are part of the UAE’s tradition of showing mercy to prisoners during Ramadan, ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
