Iran FM accuses Pentagon of lies in revealing cost of war
Tehran [Iran], May 1 : Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi on Friday accused the Pentagon of distorting war costs on Iran. Araghchi said that the 'gamble' war has costed the US USD 100 billion.
In a post on X, he said, "The Pentagon is lying. Netanyahu's gamble has directly cost America $100b so far, four times what is claimed. Indirect costs for U.S. taxpayers are FAR higher. Monthly bill for each American household is $500 and rising fast. Israel First always means America Last."

Earlier on Thursday, Iran's Parliament Speaker MB Ghalibaf mocked the US, saying that Iran's borders are far longer than US. Hence implementing a blockade would be tougher than it thinks.
Ghalibaf also mocked US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, in a little post script.
"If you build two walls, one from NYC to the West Coast and another from LA to the East Coast, the total length will be 7,755 km, which is still about 1,000 km short of Iran's total borders. Good luck blockading a country with those borders. P.S. For Pete Hegseth: 1 km = 0.62 mi"

Hegseth in his heated clash with the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday over the cost of war on Iran said that the US had spent $25bn on its war on Iran, largely on munitions and equipment maintenance, as per Al Jazeera.
"The biggest challenge, the biggest adversary we face at this point are the reckless, feckless and defeatist words of Congressional Democrats and some Republicans," Hegseth lashed out at the committee members.
Democratic leaders and several economists believed that number was a brazen underestimation. They argued that the actual cost to the US economy could amount to between USD 630 billion and USD 1 trillion.
In March, Pentagon officials had told Congress that the war cost USD 11.3bn in the first six days. The estimated figure by the Pentagon is also significantly smaller than the USD 200bn requested by the Trump administration initially for the war, as reported by Al Jazeera.
