Rail traffic was disrupted, and chaos was reported after a huge fire erupted at Glasgow Central Station in Scotland, resulting in the partial collapse of the historic Victorian building of the busiest station. The station remained closed on Monday morning, March 9. However, no immediate reports of injuries or fatalities in the following incident.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service reached the spot after a distress call at 3.40 pm on Sunday. The blaze was first reported on the ground floor of a four-storey commercial building on Union Street, near Glasgow Central Station.

Reports of thick smoke blowing from the building were seen from several kilometres. Loud explosions were heard from the premises of Glasgow Central Station building, which is suspected to be gas canisters inside the vape shop.
More than 60 firefighters were to douse the major fire on Union Street in Glasgow city centre, hours after the blaze was first reported. All high-level train services are suspended and trains running through the low-level line are unable to stop at the station. Police have cordoned off Union Street between Gordon Street and St Vincent Street, and the public is being urged to avoid the area.
Some ticket acceptance is in place, with Avanti West Coast passengers able to use their tickets at no extra cost on LNER services between Edinburgh and London King’s Cross.
