South Korea: Three Construction Workers Killed, Five Injured as Highway Overpass Collapses Near Anseong; Video Emerges
At least three construction workers were killed, and five others were injured after a portion of a highway overpass collapsed near Anseong in South Korea on Tuesday morning, February 25. According to reports, a structure above the bridge collapsed at around 9.50 am (South Korea local time) at a highway construction site in Dorim-ri, Ipjang-myeon, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do.

A dramatic video of the incident shared on social media, learned to have been taken from a car's back seat, shows a portion of the structure above the bridge falling like cards.

At the time of the incident, eight workers were buried under the debris of the overpass structure collapsed. The rescue team reached the spot after receiving the information and pulled out the bodies of three workers, and the injured were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment. The rescue efforts are being carried out at the site.
The National Fire Agency in Anseong issued a level two emergency response alert out of its three-tier system. Most rescue personnel from nearby fire stations responded to the spot. The agency has already deployed around 53 personnel from 18 fire stations to conduct search and rescue operations.
