Nancy Guthrie has become a trending topic around the world, specifically in the US, after President Donald Trump said that he asked local law enforcement to search for the missing or suspiciously kidnapped 84-year-old woman from her home near Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. 

Nancy Guthrie is the mother of American journalist and anchor of NBC News, Savannah Guthrie, one of the most recognisable faces on morning television 'Today show.' 

Donald Trump on Thursday said that he dialled NBC journalist Savannah Guthrie and assured the full support to bring back her mother home. "I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY. We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely. The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT NANCY!," Trump wrote on his Truth Social handle.

Savannah Guthrie Pleads For Return of Her Abducted Mother in Video

New anchor Savannah Guthrie released a video with other members of her family pledging her mother to return home. She seeks proof from her kidnappers that the 84-year-old is still alive. "We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen," the NBC host says, flanked by her siblings in the video posted on Instagram as reel. "Please reach out to us."


Nancy Guthrie went missing in the middle of the night from the US state of Arizona on Sunday, February 1. Local authorities suspect that she was kidnapped. The authorities said that they are investigating with the FBI to authenticate a possible ransom note.

Savannah Guthrie, in a video, further requested that her family is ready to talk. She said, "However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated." "We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her."

Who Is Nancy Guthrie?

Nancy Guthrie is the mom of US news anchor Savannah Guthrie, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She then moved her family to Tucson in the 1970s, according to AOL. Nancy's husband, Charles, died from a heart attack in 1988. 

A family member reported her missing on the next day after she missed church service on the weekend. A search was launched by local authorities immediately, using drones and dogs after registering the missing complaint.

Pima County Sheriff's officer stated that they found a trail of dried blood outside Nancy's front door. Officer Chris Nanos said that authorities are treating a case in which she is still alive. 

TMC received a note from the kidnappers of Nancy, demanding payment for her release. The note was forwarded to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, which said they were aware of it. 

Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie's pacemaker that has stopped syncing with her Apple Watch, RadarOnline.comcan reported. Apple Watches are known for allowing users to connect health devices to them so vital signs can be monitored via Bluetooth.

Pima County Sheriff's Department released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) stating that they have not identified any suspect in the case.

 

"At this point, investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case. Detectives continue to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Mrs. Guthrie. Detectives are working closely with the Guthrie family. While we appreciate the public's concern, the sharing of unverified accusations or false information is irresponsible and does not assist the investigation. No suspect or person of interest has been identified at this time," the statement reads.
