Amid the shortage across the country, it is necessary to save gas so that it can last long to avoid disruption. By implementing simple hacks your cylinder can last for a month longer.
Rice should be soaked in clean water for at least half an hour before cooking. Soaking makes the grains soft and reduces the cooking time a lot, due to which you can save 20 to 25 percent gas every day.
It is very important to always keep a tight lid on the pot while cooking any food. The lid prevents the heat and steam from escaping from the pot, so the food cooks faster and saves a lot of gas.
Always use the right amount of water for cooking, as boiling excess water wastes gas unnecessarily. If you use more water than the amount, energy is wasted, so if you use only a little water, the food will cook faster and save gas.
It is beneficial to use a pressure cooker as much as possible to cook pulses, vegetables or rice. Due to the high pressure of steam in the cooker, the food cooks much faster than other pots, which saves both time and fuel.
Once the food or water boils, immediately reduce the gas flame to low (simmer). Gas is only wasted on high heat because the speed of cooking depends on the steam and heat, not the size of the flame.
Before lighting the gas, all the preparations required for cooking should be completed, such as chopping, peeling vegetables or preparing spices. Leaving the gas on while preparing wastes fuel; having everything at hand avoids wasting gas.

Always make sure that the bottom of the utensils is thoroughly wiped and dried before placing them on the gas. Drying water from wet dishes wastes some gas energy and time, so using dry dishes is a good way to save money.
Do not heat cold food or milk from the fridge immediately after taking it out. Let the food come to normal temperature by leaving it outside for some time and then put it on the gas, as this requires less gas to heat it.
