Republic Day 2026 Celebrations: Mumbai’s Culinary Serving Tribute to Nation's ‘Unity in Diversity’

As India prepares to mark its 77th Republic Day, Mumbai’s hospitality sector is serving up a tribute to the nation’s "Unity in Diversity" the best way it knows how—through a rich tapestry of regional flavours. This year, the celebrations extend beyond the parade grounds and into the kitchens of some of the city's notable establishments. From the coastal spices of the South to the rich curries of the North, three distinct culinary experiences—Kamat’s Legacy, Fairfield by Marriott, and Musaafer at Radisson Goregaon—are curating menus that map the gastronomic geography of India.

The Grand Southern Feast: Kamat’s Legacy

Running from January 23rd – 26th

For those seeking a return to roots, Kamat’s Legacy is orchestrating a traditional immersion with their Republic Day Sadhya. Available across their outlets in Nariman Point, Vashi, Malad, and Mira Road, this experience is designed to be a communal affair, served authentically on a banana leaf.

The Sadhya is more than a meal; it is a culinary amalgamation of four southern states—Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. The curated spread includes three distinct varieties of Button Idli, aromatic Coriander and Tomato Rice, and staples like Appam and Paratha. Diners can expect a deep dive into heritage recipes, featuring the signature Legacy Stew, a wholesome.

Vegetable Thoran, and the classic trio of Avial, Sambar, and Rasam. The feast concludes on a sweet note with Pineapple Sheera and Red Rice Payasam, offering a "wholesome and traditional dining experience that captures the spirit of the season."

The Eve of Celebration: Fairfield by Marriott

Sunday, January 25, 2026 to 26th

Kickstarting the festivities on the eve of Republic Day, Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai International Airport is hosting the Freedom Brunch at its signature restaurant, Mado Mado. Recognizing that food is a powerful social connector, the brunch is designed as a family-centric event. The venue will be dressed in tricolour-themed décor, setting a patriotic backdrop for a menu that showcases heritage delicacies from across the country.

The Sunday brunch aims to blend engaging live cooking stations with the warmth of Indian hospitality, positioning itself as a vibrant prelude to the national holiday. It is a celebration designed to bring people together, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the Republic.

A Pan-Indian Odyssey: Musaafer at Radisson Goregaon

Monday, January 26, 2026

On Republic Day itself, Musaafer at Radisson Mumbai Goregaon is taking diners on a cross-country tour with a buffet aptly titled "Many States, One Country." The menu is a deliberate effort to showcase the incredible diversity of the Indian subcontinent, moving beyond standard fare to highlight regional specialties. The culinary roadmap includes the Ahadi Teen Mirch Paneer Tikka from Himachal Pradesh, the herbaceous Kothimbir Wadi from Maharashtra, and the delicate Betki Patudi from West Bengal.

The journey continues with Uttar Pradesh’s Paneer Kundan Kaliyan, a coastal detour for Goan Prawns Curry, and the tang of Madhya Pradesh via Indore Se Chatpate Chote Aloo. The feast is anchored by the royal flavours of the Hyderabadi Murg Biryani, representing the Telugu states.

Dining Desk Note: In a city often divided by fast-paced lifestyles, these Republic Day specials offer a rare moment to pause and partake in the shared heritage that binds the nation—proving that while the states may be many, the flavour of unity is singular.
