During the scorching heat of summer, dehydration, fatigue, and digestive issues are common problems. At such times, the body requires a beverage that not only provides a cooling effect but also boosts energy. While commercially available cold drinks may offer temporary relief, they can often prove detrimental to one's health in the long run. The 'Amla-Ginger' (Indian Gooseberry and Ginger) sherbet serves as an excellent and natural alternative to these options.

In Ayurveda, Amla is revered as the 'Amritphal' (the fruit of immortality), while ginger is renowned for its digestive properties. When these two ingredients are combined to create a sherbet, the result is nothing short of a magical elixir. This sherbet proves remarkably effective in preventing heatstroke and reducing excess body heat during the summer season. The abundant Vitamin C found in Amla boosts our immunity, while ginger improves digestive health and provides a soothing, cooling effect to the stomach. Let's take a look at how to prepare this Amla-Ginger sherbet, which can be ready in just 5 minutes...

Ingredients:

Amla (Indian Gooseberry) – 250 gramsGinger – 50 gramsRock Sugar (Khadisakhar) – 200 gramsLemon – 1Salt – To tasteBlack Salt (Sendhav) – To tasteMint Leaves – 7 to 8Sabja Seeds (Sweet Basil Seeds) – 1 teaspoonIce Apples (Tadgola)Water

Method:

1.  First, thoroughly wash the Amla and cut it into pieces. Then, grind the pieces in a blender jar. Next, place the ground Amla pulp into a clean cotton cloth and squeeze it firmly to extract the juice.

2.  Now, peel the ginger, cut it into pieces, and extract its juice as well. Place a pan on the stove, add the rock sugar and some water, and heat it until the sugar dissolves completely to form a syrup. Pour the prepared Amla and ginger juices into this syrup. Add the lemon juice and salt, then stir the mixture well. Once the syrup thickens slightly, allow it to cool down completely before transferring it into a clean glass jar for storage. 3. Before preparing the juice, remove the outer skin of the ice apples (Tadgola) and cut them into small pieces. Next, take the prepared Amla-Ginger juice in a bowl. Add chopped mint leaves and water, then blend all the ingredients together.

4. In a serving glass, combine soaked Sabja seeds, the chopped ice apple pieces, and the prepared Amla-Ginger juice, then drink. Enjoy this refreshing and digestive Amla-Ginger juice during the summer season.
