As summer heat intensifies, many suffer from heat-related ailments, including increased internal body heat, stomach burning, Pitta imbalance, acidity, and burning during urination, often called 'summer heat syndrome'.  For some individuals, the skin on their palms and soles may even begin to peel. If you wish to avoid all these heat-induced troubles, consider trying a very simple remedy:

Sheetali Pranayama . Let us explore when and how to practice this breathing exercise, which helps keep the body cool.

When and How to Practice Sheetali Pranayama?

Sheetali Pranayama is extremely simple to perform. You can practice this breathing exercise at any time of the day. Whenever you have a few spare moments, simply sit quietly in one spot.

Stick your tongue out and curl it slightly, giving it a somewhat tube-like shape. Now, inhale air into your body through this tubular opening formed by your tongue.

After inhaling, close your mouth and exhale slowly through your nose. Repeat this process approximately 10 times. This entire exercise will take you no more than one to one-and-a-half minutes; however, it will significantly reduce your internal body heat.

Benefits of Practicing Sheetali Pranayama

It helps to soothe and dissipate the internal burning sensation and heat within the body.

Individuals who suffer from issues such as acidity or Pitta imbalance should practice Sheetali Pranayama daily, as it helps to reduce the Pitta levels in the body.

Practicing Sheetali Pranayama also offers significant benefits for the skin. If there is excess internal body heat, it inevitably manifests on the skin, leading to an increase in pimples and acne breakouts. By reducing internal body heat, many of these skin-related issues can be effectively prevented. Practicing Sheetali Pranayama regularly helps reduce mental stress and promotes a sense of calm.
