Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi 2026: 3 Powerful Remedies to Remove Obstacles and Attract Prosperity

Sankasthi Chaturthi is one of the highly auspicious fast observed in the month of the Chaitra. By worshiping on this day Lord Ganesha, remover of all obstacles from the life. Sankashthi Chaturthi is observed on the forth day of Krushna Paksha this vrat holds special significance for devotees seeking relief from difficulties and fulfillment of wishes. On April 5, 2026 marks the first Sankashti Chaturthi of the month of Chaitra, known specifically as 'Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi.'

True to its name, this Chaturthi is believed to be the destroyer of 'Vikat' meaning severe or difficult obstacles in one's life. Significantly, this day falls on a Sunday; if you choose to dedicate this holiday to devotion to Lord Ganesha (Bappa) rather than spending it in idleness, the spiritual rewards will be manifold.

On this day, devotees observe a strict fast from sunrise until moonrise, perform pooja with durva grass, modaks, and flowers, and listen to the Sankashti vrat katha. The fast is concluded only after offering arghya to the moon and praying to Lord Ganesha. It is believed that sincere observance of this vrat during the Chaitra month brings peace, prosperity, and removes hardships from life.

1. Special 'Energy' Practice during the Brahma Muhurta (4:35 AM – 5:21 AM)

Even though it is a Sunday holiday, shake off any lethargy. The period between 4:35 AM and 5:21 AM constitutes the Brahma Muhurta. During this time, positive energy is active at its highest intensity throughout the cosmos.

What to do: Wake up during this time, take a bath, and chant the mantra 'Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha' 108 times. Even if taking a bath is not possible, do not skip the chanting.

Meditation: Close your eyes and meditate upon Bappa's 'Vikat' form—specifically, the idol of the *Vighnaharta* (the Remover of Obstacles). This meditation will prove extremely powerful in resolving obstacles in any sphere of your life—whether professional (job/business) or personal.

2. Moon Sighting (Chandra Darshan) and Arghya Ritual (Moonrise: 9:47 PM)

The Sankashti Chaturthi fast remains incomplete without the sighting of the Moon. This year, on Sankashti, the Moon is scheduled to rise at 9:47 PM.

The Fast (Vrat): Observe a fast from sunrise until the moonrise at night. Ideally, consume nothing other than fruits (*Phalahar*) and keep your mind focused on worship and devotion. Remedy: Upon moonrise, offer *Arghya* (ritual water offering) to the Moon using a mixture of milk and water.

Benefit: This remedy dispels mental restlessness, agitation, or depression, and ensures the fulfillment of all your heartfelt desires.

3. A Ghee Lamp on the Threshold: Dispelling Negativity

The evening hours are considered the auspicious time for Goddess Lakshmi to enter the home and for negativity to depart.

Timing: This remedy should be performed between 6:40 PM and 7:00 PM.

Procedure: Light a lamp filled with pure ghee (clarified butter) on the main threshold of your home. This act eliminates all negative energy and Vastu defects present within the house.

Naivedya (Sacred Food Offering): After moonrise, perform a heartfelt Aarti (ritual worship with lamps) for Lord Ganesha (Bappa) and offer him Modaks his favorite sweet as  Naivedya.

If this Vrat (ritual fast) and the three remedies mentioned above are observed with sincere faith, you will attain excellent health, prosperity, and mental peace. This first Sankashti of the New Year will truly prove to be a 'Vighnaharta' (Remover of Obstacles) for you.
