25-year-old dies of covid complications month after he became doctor

In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old doctor Rahul Pawar died due to COVID-19 in Maharashtra's Aurangabad. The young doctor had recently posted on Facebook where he captioned ‘Final year passed now its officially Dr Rahul Asha Vishwanath Pawar’. 

After he finished his final exams in April, Pawar travelled back to his village. On April 26 he was hospitalized at Majalgaon in Beed district after he started showing covid symptoms.His health started deteriorating  after which he was shifte to MGM Medical College and Hospital in Aurangabad early in May. 

Rahul did not have any co-morbidities and his condition started taking a turn for the worse. His friends had crowd-source fund for his treatment that saw many pitching in. This move attracted the attention of the authorities with the minister for medical education also announcing his willingness to sponsor his treatment. By then, the hospital had already decided to waive further cost of his treatment.

He was put on mechanical ventilator. Other than Covid-19, the young doctor was also affected by mucormycosis. On May 26 evening, he breathed his last.

Rahul was to be the first doctor in his family. He was from Anandnagar village in Pathri taluka of Parbhani district. His family's main source of income was farming.
