Approximately 500 migrant workers were stopped at Ambad near Nashik city ​​border by the Police on Sunday morning, The arrested migrant workers were from Thane-Bhiwandi and were heading towards their home in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.  

Earlier, the government had banned movement of people and had asked them to stay where they were. Even district borders were sealed by the respective district administrations. However, migrant laborers from different states are trying to reach their respective hometowns. Some of them are resorting to illegal means to reach their homes. 

On Monday morning, some migrant workers from Bhiwandi crammed inside two container trucks were stopped by the Police at Garware point in Nashik city, Ambad. The migrant workers who hailed from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh were found traveling to their home in a container truck that had written Emergency Service on it. Police have seized three trucks and containers.
