Dombivli: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a new world record was created in Dombivli, near Thane in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. As many as 9,111 women and girl students from Dombivli and Kalyan taluka performed Lezim together, setting a new world record and adding another proud milestone to the city’s name. In doing so, they also broke the previous record held by Sangli district in Maharashtra.

Over 9,000 Women Participate, Sangli Record Broken

The mass Lezim performance was organised under the guidance of BJP state president and MLA Ravindra Chavan, jointly by Dombivlikar Ek Sanskrutik Parivar and the Kalyan Taluka Physical Education Committee.

Hundreds of schoolgirls and women from across Thane district gathered on Sunday at the Shri Sant Savalaram Sports Complex ground in Dombivli for the event.

A total of 9,111 participants performed Lezim simultaneously, creating a new world record.

Earlier, the record was held by Sangli district, where 7,338 women had performed Lezim together. The record was officially confirmed by Guinness World Records representative Swapnil Dangarekar, who had arrived from London for the event.

The participants performed various synchronised formations for around five and a half minutes, completing the record attempt. On this occasion, Dangarekar handed over the world record certificate and medal to Suhasini Ravindra Chavan, wife of MLA Ravindra Chavan.

Inspired by PM Modi’s Call to Promote Fitness

Speaking at the event, Ravindra Chavan thanked everyone present and said Lezim is an important part of Maharashtra’s cultural heritage, and preserving it is a collective responsibility.

He said the initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to promote physical fitness and showcase a strong and vibrant India to the world.

“Coming together in such large numbers, these women and students have created a unique record. As a Dombivlikar, I feel extremely proud and dedicate this achievement to Bharat Mata,” Chavan said.

He also thanked the Kalyan Taluka Physical Education Committee, teachers and students, and extended his greetings on Women’s Day.

Celebration Across Dombivli

As the record was announced, the entire venue echoed with slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Jai Shri Ram and Vande Mataram.

The excitement was visible on every face as the sound of Lezim instruments and traditional dhol-tasha drums filled the ground. Thousands of residents had gathered since morning to witness the historic event, and as soon as the world record was confirmed, waves of celebration swept through the crowd, with participants receiving loud applause for their achievement.
