Sangli Crime: Worker Absconds with Gold Worth Crore, Case Registered in Vita

A worker has absconded with 1.564 kg of pure gold, worth approximately ₹1.95 crore, from the shop of a gold-melting professional originally from Bamani (Taluka Khanapur) but settled in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Vita police registered a case on Sunday, May 17, against the worker, Prithviraj Bhimrao Salunkhe, in connection with the theft.

Parveen and her husband, Bashir Mulani natives of Bamani own and operate a gold and silver melting business in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Whenever the couple visits their native village, the business is managed by their sons, Zuber and Wasim. Due to the heavy workload at the shop, Bashir had hired Prithviraj Salunkhe to assist them; Salunkhe had been working at the Mulani shop in Moradabad since the previous year, having been recruited through the mediation of Rohit Phadtare from Mangrul (Chinchani).

When Bashir Mulani fell ill, his wife called their sons, Zuber and Wasim, back to their village. Zuber, returning from their Moradabad shop, brought 1.564 kg of refined gold for three bullion dealers, but the gold was left at their Bamani home. Later, their shop worker, Prithviraj Salunkhe, arrived in the village. Zuber instructed his mother to give Prithviraj the 1.564 kg of gold bars. On February 25, she entrusted Prithviraj with the gold, valued at ₹1.95 crore. Prithviraj never returned to the shop.

Bashir searched for him in his native village of Kodoli without success. On May 8, Bashir Mulani died of a heart attack. On May 17, his wife, Parveen Mulani, filed a police complaint against Prithviraj Salunkhe for fraud, accusing him of absconding with the gold worth ₹1.95 crore.
