The number of coronavirus cases has been declining gradually since the beginning of November in the Mumbai city. On Sunday after seeing dip in daily cases the number of cases in the state and city have increased again. The state added 5,092 new Covid cases and 110 fatalities, taking the total caseload to 17,19,858 and deaths to 45,240

After reporting daily cases in the range of 500-900 in the first eight days of November, Mumbai reported saw 1,003 new cases on Sunday, taking the city's total tally to 2,64,545. The overall growth rate of cases in the city between November 1 and 7 was around 0.3%. Owing to data reconciliation, 15 deaths reported previously were added to the progressive death toll and another 493 positive cases to the progressive tally of Mumbai as well as state, but these additions were not reflected in the daily detections as they were old cases.

Covid deaths, though, continued to see a consistent decline in Mumbai. There were 23 deaths on Sunday, taking the city's toll to 10,445. The average daily Covid deaths in November has been 24. In October, it was around 42.

BMC's additional municipal commissioner Suresh Kakani said that the jump in Covid positive cases could be linked to more tests being conducted.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which comprises Mumbai city and its satellite townships, recorded 1,771 cases and 40 deaths during the day. With this, the case count in MMR reached 5,96,523 and the death toll went up to 18,056.

Mumbai city reported 1,003 new cases and 23 deaths on Sunday, which pushed its tally to 2,64,545 and fatality count to 10,445.
