The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra is rising again in the month of February.  Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday clarified that the administration, considering the rise in covid cases in the state will take appropriate decisions that will help curb the spread of virus.

He made the statement while talking to the media in Mumbai. Coronavirus situation was under control in the state till the end of January. But in February, the number of patients seems to be increasing. People are not wearing masks. They are not following the covid norms. "We are thinking of imposing lockdown in cities and rural areas. We will have an important meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray shortly. There will be a detailed discussion on spike corona cases," said Ajit Pawar.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray termed the situation as alarming and hinted that another lockdown could be imposed. Shiv Sena's editorial mouthpiece, Saamna, expressed displeasure over people violating the covid norms.

The state reported 4,787 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the highest one-day count this year.
