Devendra Fadnavis paid his last respects to legendary singer Asha Bhosle at her residence in Mumbai following her demise on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The Maharashtra Chief Minister visited her Lower Parel residence, where her mortal remains were kept for final viewing, and offered tributes to the Padma Vibhushan awardee.
Bhosle, one of India’s most iconic playback singers, died at the age of 92 at Breach Candy Hospital. Her son Anand Bhosle confirmed her passing and shared details of the final rites, which are scheduled to be held at Shivaji Park.
Doctor Prateet Samdani of Breach Candy Hospital confirmed that the veteran singer had been dealing with multiple health issues and died due to organ failure, ANI reported.
Several prominent personalities from the film industry, including Vidya Balan, Urmila Matondkar, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar, were also seen arriving at her residence to pay their respects.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, describing Bhosle as one of India’s most versatile and iconic voices whose music touched millions across generations.

Her unique musical journey spanning decades has enriched our cultural heritage and touched the hearts of countless people around the world. From soulful melodies to spirited compositions, her voice carried a timeless brilliance. I will forever cherish the memories of my conversations with her. My heartfelt condolences to her family, fans, and music lovers. She will continue to inspire future generations, and her songs will forever resonate in people's lives,” PM Modi wrote on X.
