In view of pandemic situation, Maharashtra government has called the two days state assembly's monsoon session on July 5 & 6 in Mumbai. Amid the pandemic the session will be held with stringent medical norms.

The decision by the state government to hold session for two days has been slammed by the opposition. BJP leader and ex-Maharashtra CM Fadnavis alleged the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) dispensation is trying to "run away" from the issues concerning the common people and also from the democratic process.

He further said,"Maharashtra government always tries to ignore assembly sessions citing COVID-19. Today, government again proposed monsoon session for 2 days. Thousands of people come for inauguration of ruling party's offices or protests or oath-taking ceremonies."

There are issues of farmers' & Maratha reservation among others. This government seems to be sleeping to discuss these. This is why we walked out from Business Advisory Committee meet today, added Fadnavis.

Maha Vikas Aghadi government will fall automatically one day, till then we will play the role of Opposition strongly. The day government collapses, we will give the alternative. We believe BJP will win with a majority in 2024, the ex-CM added.

In the year 2020, assembly monsoon session was held for two-days with stringent medical norms. Only selected individuals, other than MLAs and MLCs, who produce a medical certificate declaring they are COVID-19 negative, were allowed entry.
