Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Kishori Pednekar's elder brother Sunil Kadam passed away due to coronavirus on Saturday. Sunil Kadam was undergoing treatment at Nair Hospital in Mumbai for the last seven days.

However, his condition started deteriorating and he breathed his last on Saturday morning. He died at around 8.30 am this morning

Earlier, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Kishori Pednekar had gone into self-quarantine in the month of April after coming in contact with COVID-19 positive journalists.

Kishori Pednekar took Twitter to post a poem in memory of his brother, Sunil Kadam.

The COVID-19 tally in Mumbai increased to 1,14,287 on Friday with the addition of 1,100 new cases, while the death toll rose to 6,350 with 53 more patients succumbing to the infection, the city civic body said.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), however, said the city has only 20,569 active cases and its recovery rate has improved to 76 percent.
