BMC: No new COVID strain cases reported in Mumbai

Mumbai on Wednesday saw a three-month high in daily Covid-19 cases. It reported 1,167 new infections, the highest in 119 days. Although the spread of the virus is increasing in Mumbai, no covid new strain cases have been found yet, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation administration has clarified.

However, BMC has sent samples of 90 patients to the National Institute of Virology in Pune. The presence of new strain will be confirmed after receiving the report,

As a precaution, test reports of 90 patients have been sent to the Pune Institute for Genome Sequence. Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Suresh Kakani confirmed that there is no new strain in Mumbai.

After November 5, 1,583 passengers from Britain were tested. Among these affected passengers was found a new strain from Britain. However, the patients were quarantined and discharged after they tested negative.
