The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to seal any residential society in Mumbai that reports five or more Covid-19 cases.“We are seeing a higher positivity rate in high rises than in slums and 'chawls'. Hotels and pubs to remain closed during night curfew. Only essential services will be allowed,” Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said. She added that the night curfew in Mumbai may start from 10 pm or 11 pm on March 28.In an effort to combat the virus, the Maharashtra government has imposed a night curfew across the state beginning March 28. 

The curfew order does not put restrictions on movement at night but prohibits gathering in public places. The order also directs malls to remain shut from 8 pm to 7 am.Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also warned of stricter restrictions if people did not follow the Covid- 19 safety protocols. He further said that while he had permitted District Collectors to decide whether and when to impose lockdowns, he assured that there would not be any sudden state-wide lockdown and that the public would be given advance notice.Of the 62,258 new Covid-19 cases registered between Friday and Saturday, Maharashtra has reported the highest infection at 36,902, taking the caseload in the state to 26,37,735. The state has added over one lakh cases in the last four days.
