Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: ₹745 Crore Greenfield Road Project from Shendra to Dhoregaon Gets Budget Provision
The Maharashtra government has announced a major greenfield road project near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar aimed at strengthening industrial connectivity in the region. The project will be implemented in two phases. Under Phase 1, a 35.80 km road will be constructed from Shendra DMIC to Bidkin, while Phase 2 will cover a 34.80 km stretch from Bidkin MIDC to Dhoregaon. In total, land acquisition will be required on both sides of the proposed road for about 70.60 km across the two phases. The new road is being planned with a focus on supporting the development and expansion of nearby industrial areas and improving connectivity.
The state government has granted in-principle approval for a fund of ₹745 crore for land acquisition required for the project. Of this amount, ₹315 crore will be allocated for land acquisition in the first phase, while ₹430 crore will be provided for the second phase. The approval was earlier announced through an ordinance issued on December 5, 2025. Subsequently, a provision for the project was included in the state budget announced on Friday, March 6. According to the announcement, ₹315 crore will be made available for land acquisition under Part 1, while ₹430 crore will be allocated for land acquisition under Part 2.
Funding for the construction of the road will be arranged through financial assistance from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Development Bank. The Maharashtra government has also begun steps to hand over the project to MSIDC for implementation. Under Part 1 of the project, a six-lane road will be developed from Karmad to Bidkin under the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar DMIC area, covering a distance of 34.80 km. Under Part 2, a six-lane road will be constructed from Bidkin to Dhoregaon on the Pune–Nagar Road, covering a length of 35.80 km. In-principle approval has already been granted for the alignment of both road stretches.
The project is expected to improve industrial connectivity around Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where several industrial zones are located. The Waluj industrial area near the city spreads across 3,245 acres, while the Shendra five-star industrial estate covers about 2,255 acres. In addition, the MITL project is being developed over 10,000 acres in the DMIC region. Work by major companies has already begun in the Bidkin industrial area. With heavy vehicle movement likely to increase in the future due to industrial growth, the greenfield road connecting Shendra to Bidkin and Bidkin to Dhoregaon is being planned to support future industrial development and transportation needs.
