MNS president Raj Thackeray has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in view of the growing coronavirus cases in the state. In his letter the MNS chief has suggested some measures to prevent covid spread. The situation in Maharashtra is the worst as the entire country is facing the Corona pandemic.

Raj Thackeray has said that Maharashtra has been hit the hardest by covid-19.

In his letter, Raj Thackeray said that some of the first covid patients in the country were found in Maharashtra. Since then, the state has had the highest number of patients and unfortunately the highest number of deaths. The first wave of the Corona pandemic and the lockdown caused severe damage to the people of Maharashtra. We are still experiencing its economic and social repercussions across the country. Maharashtra cannot afford to impose repeated restrictions and lockdowns to stop the spread. These are not permanent solutions. But if you don't get enough vaccines, what's the alternative? He asked in his letter.

Against this backdrop, the strategy of 100 percent vaccination is important for Maharashtra if it has to stop the spread. With the aim of 100 per cent vaccination in Maharashtra, 100 per cent vaccination of all age groups should be done as soon as possible. To achieve this goal, Raj Thackeray has said that Maharashtra needs the support of the Center to provide the required number of vaccines, especially in a short period of time.

Demands made by Raj Thackeray to the Central Government

  • The state of Maharashtra should be allowed to purchase vaccines separately
  • Private institutions in the state should also be able to purchase vaccines
  • Serum Institute of India should be allowed to sell vaccine in Maharashtra but with proper regulation
  • In order to ensure timely supply of vaccines, other institutions in Maharashtra should be allowed to produce vaccines
  • Essential medicines required to treat covid 19 disease, e.g. Remdisivir, oxygen; the state should be allowed to take necessary steps to ensure that it has adequate reserves
