Even as India battles against the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, experts are cautioning that a third wave of the virus is likely to hit the country later this year. They have categorically warned that children would be affected by the third wave more than adults.

To prevent covid spread free corona vaccine will be given to all citizens above 18 years of age in the country from June 21. But no decision has yet been made on inoculation of children. But considering the risk of covid infection in young children to prevent its spread there is a good news.

No side effects were observed in the children who participated in the Nagpur Center Vaccination Trial even after 1 week. Therefore, the first week after vaccination trial of children has been successful. During the first week, no child showed any side effect like fever. On June 6, 40 volunteers were given the first dose of the Covaxin vaccine. Clinical trials will soon draw conclusions about vaccinating children, the chief said.

Dr. Sanjeev Sinha of AIIMS's Department of Medicine said that by the end of July, we will have a number of vaccines available. The results of the trial on children will come in the next 3-4 months. If the results are positive, the covid vaccine will soon be available to young children. Vaccination is important for India in the next 5-6 months. The enrollment for the 6-12 age group Covaxin test has started in AIIMS from Tuesday.

In the fight against corona, India's Covaxin vaccine is being tested on children between the ages of 6 and 12. It will then be tested on children between the ages of 2 and 6. In AIIMS, children between the age group of 12-18 have been selected and were given the first dose of Covaxin.

From May 12, DCGI has approved the second and third phase of Covaxin test for children aged 2-18 years. The test will be conducted in three phases. Each group will include 175 children in the age group of 12-18, 6-12 and 2-6. The second dose will be given 28 days after the first dose during the test.
