Relatives of coronavirus patients have alleged that ten patients died due to lack of oxygen cylinders at two hospitals in Nalasopara in Vasai-Virar municipal area. Among the dead was a former corporator. 

Former mayor Rajiv Patil's statement on social media has created a stir in Vasai taluka. At present, the Municipal Corporation has oxygen stock that will last for three hours, according to a message posted by former mayor Rajiv Patil on social media.

As many as 5,792 corona patients have been admitted to various hospitals in Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation for treatment.  Some of these patients are in dire need of oxygen due to low oxygen levels. But now, with the shortage of oxygen the patients are facing problem.

Rajiv Patil said three corona patients from Sriprastha hospital died on Monday morning, while relatives of the deceased and admitted patients created ruckus outside the hospital after news broke that seven corona patients had died at Vinayaka Hospital on Achole Road, east of Nalasopara, in the evening.

Police had to arrive at the spot to control the angry relatives and made sure that law and order was maintained. Meanwhile, 10 oxygen gas cylinders were supplied to Corona patients at Vinayaka Hospital till noon on Monday. But relatives of covid patients who died had crowded near the hospital, police inspector Rajendra Kamble told Lokmat.

JSW's oxygen refill station at Raigad supplies oxygen gas to Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation. Galaxy and Speed ​​are the two refill centers in Vasai taluka. This shortage has been created due to lack of transportation system to get this oxygen cylinders to Vasai.At present, the Municipal Corporation has oxygen stock that will last for three hours, Rajiv Patil had posted on social media. If oxygen is not available, corona patients may suffer and die, he said. He also said that three corona patients had died due to unavailability of oxygen since Monday morning at a well-known hospital in Nalasopara. Kisan Mama Bandangale, a former corporator of Bavia, also died due to lack of oxygen, he claimed.

Oxygen reserves are not depleted, they are available in small quantities. We are trying to find out where we can get oxygen from. Some oxygen cylinders have been ordered from Thane. The Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner is contacting where the oxygen cylinders come from, said - Surekha Walke, Chief Medical Officer, Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation.
