A total of 7 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Dharavi area on Tuesday, said Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).This takes the total number of cases in Asia's biggest slum to 2,945.

As per the BMC, Dharavi currently has 144 active cases and 2,530 people have been cured/discharged.

The slum colony of Dharavi recorded the lowest in almost a week, said a senior BMC official.

In the last five days, the slum-dominated area had recorded over 20 COVID-19 cases daily.

The civic body has, however, stopped sharing death figures for the past few months.

The official said the tally of COVID-19 cases in the G-north civic ward, that covers Dadar, Dharavi and Mahim, among other areas, rose to 8,785.
