Maharashtra continues to report highest daily new COVID-19 cases with 31,643 in the last 24 hours, followed by Punjab and Karnataka.

"Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 31,643. It is followed by Punjab with 2,868 while Karnataka reported 2,792 new cases," reads an official statement.

Due to the increasing number of COVID cases in the state, Maharashtra government on Tuesday issued an order to state's oxygen producers to supply 80% of oxygen for medical usage, rest 20% will be available for other industrial purposes. The order will remain in force till 30th June, read the order issued by Maharashtra Health Department. 

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said that additional 2269 COVID beds (including 360 ICU beds) in private hospitals will be made available with immediate effect. Additional 1500 beds will be operationalised in Jumbo COVID Centres. However, allotment of beds will only take place through the 24 Ward War Rooms.
