The Maharashtra government has allowed online classes for pre-primary students and for Classes 1, 2 with a daily 30-minute session five days a week amid the covid-19 pandemic. 

In the latest order issued by the state government on Wednesday, the authorities have asked schools to conduct online sessions for all classes from pre-primary till Class 12.

As per the order, the pre-primary classes will be held daily from Monday to Friday for 30 minutes in which the teachers will interact with students and guide their parents.

For Classes 1 and 2:  There will be two sessions of total 30 minutes. The first 15-minute session will be for interaction and training of parents and the second session will be of activity-based learning for students.

For Classes 3 to 8: There will be two sessions of 45 minutes each every day.

For Classes 9 to 12:  There will be up to four sessions of 45 minutes each every day, state School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said.

The state government came to a decision that amid the pandemic it was not possible to reopen schools, but had given the authorised district collectors, municipal commissioners and school managements to take a decision considering the prevailing situation.
