A fake screenshot of TV9 Marathi news channel claiming that the Maharashtra CM has announced a 15-day strict lockdown from March 1 to curb spread of COVID-19 has gone viral on social media platforms.

The screenshot of the news channel has created panic among the citizens of state. The image has gone viral on Facebook, Whatsapp, and Twitter. So, is there any truth behind the screenshot of the news bulletin?

CLAIM: After sudden surge in covid cases in state, CM Thackeray has announced a 15-day strict lockdown from March 1.

FACT: The screenshot of the news bulletin is 'FALSE', no such announcement has been made by Uddhav Thackeray.

This comes days after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked people to follow ‘COVID-appropriate’ behaviour and safety norms, and said he would observe the situation for a week to 15 days and then decide whether to impose another lockdown.

It was found out that the screenshot from the news channel was fake and misleading. There is no such announcement of the state being put into another lockdown from March 1. The channel has not carried any such news report and the photo has been morphed
