Maharashtra's Legislature''s monsoon session commenced today. At the beginning of the session, Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly Devendra Fadnavis strongly attacked the Thackeray government.

"The government is acting arbitrarily in the state. An attempt is being made to present the bill and pass it on the same day. Never before in the history of the convention have there been so many questions and answers. The Thackeray government has locked up democracy ", said Devendra Fadnavis.

As soon as the work of the monsoon session commenced, Devendra Fadnavis took the government to task regarding the papers of agenda for the session. "The agenda for the session was not ready till ten o'clock last night. This has never happened before. What kind of secret administration does the government want to do? ", Fadnavis pointed out.

Fadnavis also termed as "misleading" the resolution to be moved by the state government in the Legislature asking the Centre to furnish population data of OBCs based on the 2011 census, so that political reservations for members of the OBCs in local bodies can stay.

The Supreme Court earlier this year quashed quota for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in local bodies after observing that the total number of seats earmarked for various communities, including the SCs sand STs, should not exceed 50 per cent of its total strength.
