On the occasion of Marathi Bhasha Din, a program was organized at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park in Mumbai on Saturday. MNS chief Raj Thackeray was also present on the occasion. He was accompanied by his wife Sharmila Thackeray and Amit Thackeray. During the event he was spotted without mask.

Reporters present at the program asked MNS chief why he wasn't wearing mask amid surge in covid cases in Mumbai. He replied, "I don't wear mask, you all also don't wear".

Currently, Maharashtra has been witnessing a surge in the number of new cases again. Similarly, a few days ago, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had interacted with the people through Facebook Live and called for citizens to adhere to covid rules.

“Many events are held in state that are crowded including the one's organized by the state government. Ministers can organize big programme with huge crowd but on days like Shiv Jayanti, Marathi Bhasha Din we don't get permission. If the Coronavirus cases are rising again in state, then all elections should be postponed. It doesn't matter if elections are postponed to next year, "he said.
