Kolhapur Crime: A shocking incident has come to light in which an unidentified individual sabotaged a prospective marriage by sending edited photographs of the groom to the relatives of a young woman from Barshi via their mobile phones. Pandurang Sopan Lohkare filed a complaint at the Shahupuri Police Station against an unidentified person regarding an incident from the previous year that surfaced ten months later.

According to information provided by the Shahupuri Police, arrangements were underway to finalize the marriage of Pandurang Lohkare's son, a resident of Nagala Park. Marriage negotiations were in progress with a family from Barshi regarding their daughter. During this period, an unidentified individual sent edited photographs of the young man (the groom) to the WhatsApp accounts of the young woman's father and other relatives. The individual also sent a message warning them not to associate with the Lohkare family, claiming that their daughter's future would be jeopardized if she were to marry their son.

The unidentified individual sent a fabricated photograph depicting a girl's hand alongside that of Lohkare's son. As a result, the prospective marriage was called off. This incident, which occurred between May 26 and June 22, 2025, came to light only last week. Lohkare has filed a complaint at the Shahupuri Police Station, demanding strict action against the person who sabotaged the marriage by sending misleading messages.

The police have initiated an investigation to identify and locate the individual who sent the fraudulent messages from the mobile number. The act of sabotaging a marriage through deception is a serious offense. Consequently, the police will track down the suspect and take appropriate legal action against them, stated Inspector Santosh Doke of the Shahupuri Police Station.
