One person was injured in a fire after a tuck carrying hydrogen gas cylinders overturned on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway at Vasai Phata ahead of D Mart on the Mumbai-Gujarat highway divider on Saturday morning (August 3). The driver of the vehicle with the registration number GJ 12BY 2255 lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. After receiving information, firefighters reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
According to the information shared by news agency ANI, the truck driver lost control, and the vehicle overturned on the highway after colliding with a divider. Due to this, major traffic congestion has been reported on Ghodbunder Road. During this time, all traffic on the Mumbai and Gujarat highways has been halted at a safe distance. Traffic has not yet returned to normal.
Heavy vehicles traveling via Ghodbunder Road have been stopped, and other car drivers are requested to use alternative routes via Ghodbunder Road to reach the Ahmedabad Highway, the Thane traffic branch in its traffic advisory.
Senior Inspector Jitendra Vankoti of Pelhar police station informed LokmatTimes.com, "Fire is under control. It has been doused off. However, the traffic situation remains grim on both the sides. Traffic authorities are on the spot and are working towards diverting the traffic."
Commuters are advised to avoid the area and opt for alternative routes to avoid getting stuck in the traffic jam. More details about the incident are awaited.
